It is February. We are actively surviving our second winter in the house. It's been a pretty good winter house-wise. Yes, the plumbing in the upper suite kitchen sink froze when it was really cold, but that has been the biggest issue. That is much, much better than last winter.
There are some changes on the horizon. Justina is leaving for AFRICA for 5 1/2 months(!) and we have a renter taking her place. The spring will be upon us one day, and Sarah has been eyeing up the Holes seed catalogue. For your reading enjoyment, here is Sarah's proposed seed list (I get shivers just thinking about it!):
*nasturtium *sunflower mix *sweet pea mix *garlic chives *dill *oregano *poppies *beans (french filet) *pole beans *edamame *beet mix (golden, red, and striped)*broccoli *brussel sprouts *red cabbage *carrot mix (orange red, purple, white and yellow) *carrot seed tape (nantes) *round romeo carrots (bell shaped) *cauliflower *celery *corn (early, sweet variety) *cucumber *leek *romaine lettuce mix *"farmer's market" lettuce mix *"gourmet blend" lettuce mix *cantaloupe *snow peas *sugar snap peas *hot pepper mix *bell pepper mix *early pepper mix *pumpkin ("mammoth") *spinach *summer squash mix *butterbush squash *spaghetti squash *acorn squash *swiss chard *4 varieties of tomato *watermelon *zucchini mix !!!
Within the next couple of years, I want to try quinoa and millet. I don't know much about growing them, and I haven't looked into them too much. I am still pretty new at gardening and still have a lot to learn. Maybe next year?
(hello, groundhog).
